KnightLite's Outer Banks QRP Expedition
March 27-28, 2004
The KnightLites will be heading to Cape Lookout National Seashore on the North Carolina Outer Banks during the weekend of March 27-28, 2004. The National Park Service oversees this section of the NC coast, which stretches from Portsmouth Island to Shackleford Banks. Ferry service to the Cape lookout area is available from Calico Jack's Marina on Harker's Island.
Directions to Harker's Island are simple. From Raleigh, take Hwy 70 East. A few miles east of Beaufort, you will turn right off of Hwy 70 onto Harker's Island road and follow this road until you see Calico Jack's Inn & Marina near the end of the island. The ferry runs seven days a week--weather permitting-- to the lighthouse each hour from 8AM-5PM. Drive time from Raleigh is approximately 3-1/2 hours.
We are in the process of setting up carpooling arrangements. Please let us know if you would like to carpool.
Additional details will be posted later this week.
Backpacking and camping information is available from the NPS.
